Meet the Experts Behind PVD India
30+ veterinary professionals — pathologists, microbiologists, biotechnologists, and field technicians — dedicated to delivering accurate diagnostics for animals across Pune and India.
The Visionaries Behind PVD India
In 2019, two professionals from different worlds — microbiology research and hospital management — came together with a shared conviction: that every animal in India deserves access to quality diagnostic care, regardless of where it lives.

“Every farmer deserves fast, doorstep diagnostics to keep livestock healthy and thriving.”
Pragati Pandey-Narwade
MSc Microbiology • Ex-Research Associate, ICAR-CICR | Former District Project Coordinator, HLL Lifecare Ltd
Pragati's journey to founding PVD began in the research laboratories of ICAR-CICR (Central Institute for Cotton Research), where she served as a Research Associate in microbiology — sharpening her scientific instincts and deepening her understanding of India's agricultural ecosystem. The turning point came during her tenure as District Project Coordinator at HLL Lifecare Ltd, where she witnessed firsthand the stark diagnostic void in rural India — not merely for humans, but critically for the livestock that millions of farming families stake their entire livelihoods on. That moment of reckoning ignited a mission that would become PVD India.
Pragati's leadership has been nothing short of transformational — turning a bold, unconventional idea into India's first and only doorstep multi-species veterinary diagnostic network. Her rare combination of scientific precision, field empathy, and entrepreneurial courage has built a platform where veterinary science meets real-world need at the farm gate. The initiative stands as a testament to how visionary thinking, combined with relentless systematic execution, can dismantle long-standing barriers in animal healthcare. She personally leads laboratory partnerships, champions quality assurance across every test report, and drives the scientific rigour that makes PVD's results trusted by farmers, veterinarians, and institutions alike.
Key Contributions
- Built PVD’s partner laboratory network from scratch
- Designed the quality assurance framework for all diagnostic reports
- Led the development of PVD’s herd health monitoring programme
- Regularly visits rural cooperatives to understand farmer needs firsthand

“We don't wait for animals to come to the lab. We bring the lab to the animal.”
Vishwajeet S.Y Narwade
MSc Life Sciences, PGDHM • 10+ Years Corporate Hospitals & Public Health Projects
Vishwajeet spent over a decade at the intersection of healthcare and large-scale operations — managing complex public health projects and corporate hospital systems before co-founding PVD. His Postgraduate Diploma in Hospital Management (PGDHM), fused with a rigorous foundation in Life Sciences, gave him an extraordinarily rare vantage point: he could see both the clinical demands of diagnostics and the operational architecture needed to deliver them with precision, speed, and scale.
As the operational mastermind behind PVD, Vishwajeet engineered India's first doorstep veterinary diagnostic model from the ground up — a feat that blends healthcare logistics, technology, and rural outreach in ways never attempted before. He commands PVD's pan-India field operations, business strategy, and expansion blueprint with the same rigour he brought to corporate hospital management. From cold-chain logistics for biological samples to real-time digital report delivery, every system in PVD reflects his obsession with operational excellence. Under his leadership, PVD grew from a single office in Pune to a nationally recognised service spanning Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, Goa, Bangalore, Guwahati, Hyderabad and beyond.
Key Contributions
- Pioneered India’s first doorstep multi-species veterinary diagnostic model
- Scaled PVD operations from Pune to 8+ cities in 6 years
- Established partnerships with IVRI and Ministry of Agriculture
- Leads business development and institutional collaborations pan-India
Their Shared Vision
Pragati and Vishwajeet founded PVD India with a radical idea: bring professional veterinary diagnostics to every farmer’s doorstep. From a single office in Pune in 2019, their complementary strengths — scientific precision and operational scale — have built India’s first doorstep multi-species veterinary diagnostic service, now serving 8+ cities with a team of 30+ professionals.
The Experts Behind Every Report
Every PVD diagnostic report is reviewed by qualified specialists with decades of combined experience in veterinary pathology, microbiology, biotechnology, and molecular diagnostics.

Dr. Akaram Bagal
Veterinary Pathologist
B.V.Sc & AH, M.V.Sc (Vet Pathology) | Diplomat, IBTP
Director, Chaitanya Laboratories | 15+ Years Experience
Among the most celebrated veterinary pathologists in India, Dr. Akaram Bagal commands over 15 years of unparalleled expertise in animal pathology that very few in the country can match. As Director of Chaitanya Laboratories and a distinguished Diplomat of the International Board of Toxicologic Pathology (IBTP), he is the scientific backbone and guiding force behind every PVD diagnostic report. His mentorship shapes junior pathologists with a standard of excellence that defines PVD's reputation for accuracy. When PVD promises 24–48 hour results you can trust — it's Dr. Bagal's rigour that stands behind that promise.

Dr. Hitesh N. Pawar
Veterinary Biotechnologist
B.V.Sc. & A.H., M.V.Sc. (Animal Breeding & Genetics), Ph.D. (Animal Biotechnology)
Postdoctoral Research Experience, United States | Veterinary Genetics & Molecular Biotechnology
Few scientists in India command the intersection of veterinary genetics and molecular biotechnology with the authority that Dr. Hitesh N. Pawar does. Armed with a Ph.D. in Animal Biotechnology and rare postdoctoral research experience from the United States, he returned to India not merely to practice science — but to transform an entire diagnostic frontier. As co-founder of Verity Vet Laboratories, he architected PVD's DNA testing and genetic diagnostics programme from the ground up, creating India's most accessible platform for breed identification, hereditary disease screening, and parentage verification. Whether serving thoroughbred stud farms, cattle breeders, or first-time pet owners, his work ensures that genetics is no longer a luxury of elite institutions — it is a diagnostic right for every animal in India.

Dr. Namita Mitra-Pawar
Veterinary Microbiologist
BVSc & AH, MVSc (Veterinary Microbiology), PhD (Animal Biotechnology) | Diplomate, ACVM (Virology)
Molecular Diagnostics & Zoonotic Disease Research
Dr. Namita Mitra-Pawar is a rare force in veterinary science — a distinguished microbiologist, researcher, and diagnostic pioneer who sits at the cutting edge of infectious disease, molecular diagnostics, and zoonotic pathogen surveillance. Holding the extraordinary distinction of being a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Microbiology (Virology) — one of the most elite credentials in veterinary science globally — she brings world-class expertise in RT-PCR diagnostics, mycobacterial infections, and emerging animal-human interface diseases to PVD’s molecular diagnostic programmes. In 2026, she was part of the landmark research team that published the first documented case of fatal pulmonary tuberculosis in a domestic cat in India caused by Mycobacterium orygis — a zoonotic pathogen of global significance. This groundbreaking work, connecting clinical pathology with advanced molecular confirmation, stands as a defining contribution to companion animal medicine and disease surveillance in South Asia. Through PVD, she bridges cutting-edge laboratory science with frontline veterinary practice.

Life at PVD India
Working at PVD means more than processing lab samples. Our team visits dairy farms in Baramati at dawn, collects pet samples in Kothrud apartments, and collaborates with veterinary surgeons in Viman Nagar clinics — all in the same week.
We operate in a flat hierarchy where field technicians, lab scientists, and directors sit together to discuss cases. Dr. Akaram Bagal personally mentors junior pathologists. Pragati and Vishwajeet regularly accompany the field team to understand farmer challenges firsthand.
PVD invests in continuous learning — sending team members to IVRI workshops, funding veterinary conference attendance, and maintaining subscriptions to international veterinary diagnostic journals. When you get a PVD report, there’s a team of 30+ professionals behind every result.
